CACADOU LOOK - Tko mari za čari (1987)

 

 

CACADOU LOOK was formed in Opatija, in 1983, Croatia. They were not the first all-female band in Yugoslavia — at the time, already active were "Tožibabe" from Ljubljana and "Boye" from Novi Sad — but they were the first to achieve a degree of mainstream popularity, helped by radio play of their two demo tracks, "Sama" and "Kao pjesma", and by TV appearances such as those on Stereovizija, a popular 1980s music show broadcast by Radio Television Zagreb. Their first album "Tko mari za čari" (Jugoton, 1987) was produced by Husein Hasanefendić and Tomo in der Mühlen, and featured a guest appearance by Vlada Divljan. The album yielded three hit songs: "Sama", "Kao pjesma" and "Tako lako". Apart from "Tako lako", a cover of Buddy Holly's "It's So Easy", and "Ne dozvoli", which was written by Divljan, all songs on the album were composed by the band. Despite these accomplishments, the band found working in the men-dominated music scene difficult at times, and occasional malicious remarks motivated them to work even harder. Their second and equally successful album "Uspavanka za Zoroa" was released in 1989. Hit tracks from the album were "Baum bam bam", "Budi mi prijatelj", and "Krenite s nama", the latter a cover of Bryan Ferry's "Let's Stick Together". An English version of "Budi mi prijatelj" — named "Be My Friend" — was also recorded, appearing on Yu-Go Pop (Jugoton, 1990), a compilation of Yugoslav pop and rock artists performing their songs in English. Cacadou Look played their last gig in Zagreb on May 25, 1991. Members of the band were not willing to start solo careers — seeing them as meaningless without the band team work — and left the music scene. (from wikipedia)

TUNEL was formed in 1980 by Ljuba Ninković (a former "S vremena na vreme member", guitar), Vladimir "Vlada" Janković "Džet" (a former "Crni Biseri" member, bass guitar), and Steva Stevanović (a former SOS member, drums). The band presented themselves with the melodic classic rock-isnpired sound, and during the initial years performed mostly on collective concerts with other bands. In 1982, they released their debut album "Noćni prolaz", produced by Robert Nemeček, through Jugodisk. Five tracks were written by Ninković, and four by Janković. The album featured minor hits "Natali", "Radio", "Svako je zna", and "Volim sax", and a cover of Steppenwolf's song "Born to Be Wild". In 1983, the band released album "Niz tri tamne ulice", also produced by Robert Nemeček, also through Jugodisk. Besides the tracks written by Ninković and Janković, the album featured song "A sad je svemu kraj" a cover of a Bobby Womack song "It's All Over Now". In 1984, the band was joined by the guitarist Vlada Negovanović (a former "Butik", "Doktor Spira i ljudska bića", and Slađana Milošević's backing band "Ljudi" member). This lineup recorded the album "Elektirčna iluzija", produced by Đorđe Petrović and released in 1984 through PGP-RTB. In 1987, the band released the album "Do poslednje kapi...", produced by the band themselves and Bata Kostić, trough PGP-RTB. The album featured a Serbian language cover of Willie Dixon's song "Little Red Rooster", entitled "Crveni petao". The album featured Kostić (on guitar) and Ninković's former bandmate from "S vremena na vreme", Asim Sarvan (on vocals) as guest musicians. In 1987, Negovanović moved to Dejan Cukić's "Spori Ritam Band". The band's new member became Predrag Guculj, who previously performed with Rambo Amadeus. In 1991, the band released the album "Bubnjevi preko reke", produced by themselves, through PGP-RTB. The song "Bela lađa" featured rock veteran Branko Marušić "Čutura" on vocals. The album featured a Serbian language cover of The Doors song "Love Street", entitled "Ulica ljubavi". The song "Još uvek (volim sax)" featured guitarist Borko Mitić, and the album also featured Bilja Krstić, Asim Sarvan, and Željko Marinković on backing vocals, and Saša Lokner on keyboards. KRISTALI were from Zagreb, Croatia (ex-Yugoslavia). They formed in 1962, inspired by Duane Eddy, Johnny & The Hurricanes and The Champs. They recorded a few songs for Radio Zagreb in 1963.

TERMITI - Vjeran pas (1978-1983)

 

 

TERMITI were a new wave rock band from Rijeka, Croatia (ex-Yugoslavia). They founded in 1978. Their music, sung in mother tongue, had the quirk of an organ sounding keyboard and complex and unusual leading melodies, backed to the usual New Wave rock ensemble of images. They split up in 1983.
