VAN GOGH - Van Gogh (1986)

VAN GOGH was formed in 1986, in Beograd, Serbia (ex-Yugoslavia). The first lineup consisted of Zvonimir Đukić "Đule" (guitar), Srboljub Radivojević (drums), Đorđe Petrović (a former Zajedno member, keyboards), Goran Milisavljević (vocals), and Predrag Popović (a former Rock Ekspres member, bass guitar). In February 1986, the band released their debut single "Tragovi prošlosti", and in May they appeared at Youth Festival in Subotica, performing songs "Tragovi prošlosti", "Tvoj smeh" and "Menjam se", and winning the second place by the choice of the audience, and the third place by the choice of the jury. At the end of 1986 the band released their debut self-titled album. The album lyrics were written by Milisavjević, the music was written by Đukić, and the album was produced by Đorđe Petrović. The album featured new versions of "Tragovi prošlosti", "Tvoj smeh" and "Menjam se". After a number of concerts Van Gogh disbanded. Before the 1990 reunion Đukić performed with band Fit (participating in the recording of their debut album "Uz rijeku", band Ekatarina Velika (participating in the recording of their album "Samo par godina za nas") and Nikola Čuturilo. KARIZMA - Vreme je za nas (1988)

 

 

KARIZMA was formed in Beograd, in 1985 and was named after Kiss song "Charisma" from their 1979 album "Dynasty". In 1988 Karizma won the first place at Gitarijada festival in Zaječar and released their debut album "Vreme je za nas" in 1988, in the following lineup: Dušan Zarić (vocals), Dušan Janićijević (guitar), Dragoljub Popović (guitar), Zoran Miletić (bass guitar), Dejan Tomović (keyboard) and Srđan Milenković (drums). After the album was released Zarić left the band due to his army obligations. A former Otkrovenje member Dejan Jelisavčić replaced Zarić. In 1990 the band was awarded with MESAM's award for the best debut act in 1988. The same year Karizma was an opening band on Kerber tour. In 1991 the band released its second studio album "U snovima" with Goran Tadić (drums) as Karizma's new member. Album featured a cover of Oliver Mandić's song "Ljuljaj me nežno". In 1993 bass guitarist Saša Đokić and drummer Dragan Živković replaced Tomović and Tadić. In 1994 the band recorded demos for the album that was never released and disbanded soon after. ISKRE - Stalaktit (Sve EPY ploče 1964-1965)

 

 

 

ISKRE was formed in 1961, in Beograd, Serbia (ex-Yugoslavia) by the students Slavoljub Bogdanović (rhythm guitar), Miloš Sekulić (guitar), Gligorije Milanović (bass guitar), and Draško Reljin (drums). The band choose their name after Iskra amplifiers (originally designed for movie theaters) they used at the beginning of their career. The band started their career by playing instrumentals inspired by the music of The Tornados, and soon achieved notable popularity. They often performed at pop concerts and dances and appeared on Radio Belgrade. Iskre were one of the first Yugoslav bands that appeared on recordings by pop music singers: they recorded with Zafir Hadžimanov (covers of Cliff Richard songs), Ivanka Pavlović, Zoran Rambosek, and others. During 1963 Iskre often performed with female vocalist Brankica Sučević (an official member of Safiri). The band wanted to record their debut EP with her, but the editors of Diskos record label insisted that the band record the EP with the then-popular female singer Ivanka Pavlović. The EP with songs "Mala Šeila", "Locomotion", "Peppermint Twist", and "Slušaj pesmu" was eventually released under Ivanka Pavlović's name only. The EP soon became the second best-selling Yugoslav pop music record (behind Nikola Karović's "Mala Grkinja"). After the recording of the EP Milanović left the band, and was replaced by Dragan Mirković. In January 1964 the band won the first place at the "Parada ritma" festival held at Dom sindikata. Several months later they held their first solo concert at Kolarac People's University, and soon after released their official debut EP, with songs "Stalaktit" (a cover of a Les Aiglons song), "Šeba", "Rock za dobro jutro" and "Zvončići". After the release of the EP Mirković left the band, and was replaced by a former Siluete and Lutalice member Branko Gluščević. During 1965 they recorded two EPs, both featuring four songs, three of them being instrumental tracks. They appeared in Toma Janjić's film "Glasam za ljubav", becoming the first Yugoslav rock band to appear on film. At this time the band's popularity declined, due to the popularity of new rock genres. The band started covering Macedonian traditional songs, but did not see expected success. During January and February 1966 they performed at Belgrade Gitarijada where they won the fifth place. ŽURNAL was a rock band from Zrenjanin (Serbia), in former Yugoslavia. Members were Dragan Nikolić-Safi (guitar), Vladimir Agić-Aga (guitar, vocal), Dragan Čordašić (bass) and Branislav Đerić (drums). This is their one and only one album from 1985.

KRSTIĆ & ŠAPER - Poslednja mladost u Jugoslaviji (1987)

  

 

After IDOLI split up, the first solo release by any Idoli member was "Poslednja mladost u Jugoslaviji" by KRSTIĆ & ŠAPER. The two started writing and recording new material in 1986 and the album came out in 1987 through Jugoton. The two also formed a backing band, "Unutrašnja Imperija" featuring Dragomir Mihajlović "Gagi" (guitar), Branko Isaković (bass) and Dragoljub Đuričić (drums). JAKARTA was formed in Beograd (Serbia) in 1981. During the initial period the band went through numerous lineup changes, before original members Igor Popović (vocals) and Jane Parđovski (guitar) started performing with Rade Bulatović (bass guitar), Miloš Petrović (keyboards) and Ivan Fece (drums). They released their debut album "Maske za dvoje", in 1984. The album brought pop funk hits "Spiritus", "Piromanija", "Dama sa severa" and "Pozovi me". With their second album "Bomba u grudima", recorded with the new drummer Miroslav Karlović, and released in 1986, Jakarta moved towards pop rock sound.
